15VDC Effective Low Cost Power Supply.

Here i am going to demonstrate and Explain a very easy but Effective one of easiest Project with a simple design and low cost 15V DC Poer supply Using LM7815 Regulator IC.

The power supply is an electronic device that is usually referred to as an electric power converter because it converts one form of electrical energy into another form (AC to DC).

The Heart of This Circuit is LM7815 Regulator IC and the Second important thing is the Step-Down AC Transformer  that should have a Primary Rating of 230V or 110V and Secondary coil should be rated about 15V and 3Ampere.

The 3 Ampere Rated Bridge Rectifier  Converts AC to DC with 25% Tolerance  Variation in Output.

Circuit Explanation

When AC supply connects at Input connector, the Transformer Steps down the input Voltage 220- or 230 volt to 30VAC as it is Step-Down Transformer.  The current flows through the Bridge Rectifier (consisting of four diodes of 3A for the conversion of AC to DC). Then the current flows to capacitors C1 and C2, here i am  using C2 to filter the noise signal in DC voltage, after that the DC voltage goes to the Regulator IC LM7815. Another Diode 1N4001 (D1)is used to Block the feedback signal or Current to the Regulator IC since the IC becomes hot during the process and a suitable heat-sink is required to connect for Heat Dissipation. Another capacitor is used to further smooth and clean the noise in DC output voltage and finally, we are getting an output of 15VDC at output Connector.

This is Low Cost Linear 15VDC, 2Amp Power Supply

You can use this Circuit for industrial purpose as well as Battery Charging also.
  • The main application is the conversion of AC to DC.
  • You can use in operational amplifiers.
  • It can also be used for Audio buffering or mixing.
  • Widely used in toys for DC motors.

Thanks...............
wish you all the Best............
